Welcome to The Neat Lifestyle Podcast. My name is Katia Mesquita. I'm a life coach, an online business entrepreneur, and your host on this weekly variety show. I'm excited to bring you an extra dose of inspiration to reorganize life to find and go after what you really want. My goal in this podcast is to help you achieve a more successful, harmonious, and meaningful life. I can't wait to connect with you today. Thank you so much for tuning in, and now let's begin. Hello and welcome to The Neat Lifestyle Podcast, now present in 52 countries all over the world. Oh my goodness, thank you so much for listening. I'm your host, Katia Mesquita. This is episode number 29, and in today's episode, let's talk about the lifestyle of becoming your own leader, so let's jump in.

If you have ever had the curiosity to know how to generate revenue online on your own, utilizing the knowledge you already have and experience the freedom to travel where you want and when you want, but never had the opportunity to discover how online marketing works and which lifestyle can lead you to that, this episode is for you because many amazing things can come with that, like experiencing the freedom of choosing your work hours. Kind of like me, I chose the hours I'm available, the days I'm available, and this is so amazing because I feel freedom, so I'm able to travel whatever I want and whenever I want. Another awesome thing is start having multiple sources of income instead of just one, which is usually what having one job represents, right? The opportunity to choose to work with what you are really passionate about, what you enjoy, instead of forcing yourself to tolerate work. You find more sense of purpose in life, experience more fulfillment. You can be who you are, feel more comfortable, more confident on your own skin, be more in control of the price you charge for your products or services, your offer, whatever you have to offer, and therefore your income. What else? Never having the fear of losing a job again and so much more.

And to discuss the topic of today's episode, note that instead of using the expression, becoming your own boss, I'm using the expression, becoming your own leader because there is a substantial difference between the lifestyle of becoming your own boss and the lifestyle of becoming your own leader. A difference between boss and leader. A boss usually rules by authority, domination, intimidation, and fear, While leader rules by guidance and influence. A boss micromanages, and a leader trusts. Boss commands, leaders teach and listen. A boss usually has a big ego to preserve, and leaders are more self-assured. A boss usually takes credit for most of the accomplishments of the team, and leaders give credit. So, for those who want somehow give themselves the opportunity to be involved in a project that can allow them to experience freedom in their lives, choosing the lifestyle of becoming their own leaders is the way to go.

And at this point, you might be asking, isn't the lifestyle supposed to be something that we enjoy as a result of achieving our goals? Many people think that the lifestyle is supposed to come after we achieve a goal, but in reality, it doesn't work like that. We need to start adopting part of the lifestyle desired right now before we start on the path of achieving our goals. Whatever goal you have that is part of the lifestyle that is important to be living right now, in order to achieve what you want. And then, once you achieve that goal, you can enjoy fully that lifestyle. And by that, I don't mean go out and irresponsibly spend a lot of money we don't have. What I mean is that it's important to start changing some habits, and a lot of small changes of habits can be done now and it starts normalizing things that you are going to have once you achieve your goals, so you start getting used to a lifestyle that you are going to have in the future and you need to have in order to become that type of person.

Another thing to consider is that the lifestyle of being your own leader includes the understanding that there are two ways we can position ourselves in the marketplace. One is the position of being just consumers, being led to buy things, even things we don't actually need. And the second one is the position of being providers besides consumers. We will always consume something. It's normal. But when we start to assume a position of being also a provider or creator of something that can provide value to people, that's when the magic starts to happen because this is what's gonna pave the way for freedom. And the whole point of this episode is to send to you the message that it is important to start leading instead of just being led and observing yourself, and adopting this perspective can be a game changer for you.

The things that many of us didn't have the opportunity to know how marketing works. Many of us were taught to be good employees only, and it has been like that since the age of manufacturing, which, of course, varies for each country, and so many people still find barriers to learn how to apply marketing strategies to their situations, what marketing strategies they can use and how to start attracting their own clients and work independently. I dont about you, but for me, when I finished college, the only option I had was working as an employee, which was okay for some time. There is nothing wrong about dedicating some time in my life to be an employee. It's a good way to acquire experience, start serving the community, and earn some money initially. But I didn't want to be an employee forever, especially because not every company is like those top 100 best places to work. And I started to realize that I was working just to fulfill someone else's dreams and I didn't want to be stuck with that forever. But anyway, long story short, years later, I had this incredible opportunity to learn marketing here in the US, and then it set me free not only because it allowed me to know how to have my own clients generate my income independently but especially for making it possible for me to choose to work with what I'm really passionate about. I could choose, okay, I want to work with a podcast, and I want to have my clients with my coaching programs, and I love that And I'm so glad I did it. I took this step. I wish this for everybody, honestly.

Hi there, Katia here to make a quick announcement. One of the biggest mistakes people make when they want to change their lifestyle and start attracting their own clients in revenue is quitting their jobs before preparing what they need. It usually happens because many of us were taught just how to become good employees with no access to marketing information that could actually set us free. Well, I've been there, and after discovering how marketing works and applying it myself, I started experiencing the freedom to work with something I really enjoy. Choose the days and time I'm available to work, travel wherever I want, whenever I want, and I wish the same for those who also want to experience that. I believe that a job can be something transitional, and marketing information should be accessible to everyone. That's why I've created the masterclass, "Attract Your Own Clients and Revenue Online." I wanna show you how to utilize your expertise and marketing strategies to attract your own clients and generate revenue online so you can step into the freedom you were meant to have. And better yet, this masterclass is absolutely free. To register, visit my website at neatlifestyle.com/programs or click on the link in the show notes of this episode, and we can get started right now.

And here are some lifestyle changes you can start making right now in order to start becoming your own leader. Number one: reading personal improvement books, at least 4 per year. I will put some great book suggestions in the show notes of this episode for you because it has to be the right one. It's not like any book. Number two: attending book clubs or self-improvement programs in which you can start getting in touch with higher-minded people, people who are a step ahead of you on a path of freedom and can exchange experiences with you. Of course, we still value our like-minded friends, but we need to be open and have some time for getting more in touch with higher-minded people as well. Number three: start adopting a lifestyle of a lifelong learner. Be open to learn something new, especially related to marketing strategies. It's like— I understand that you already know a lot, but there are some things that can complement what we know, and then we have something powerful. Successful people love exchanging experiences and latest updates about marketing tools and strategies. Make sure you are open to learn and also have something good to add to someone in this aspect. Number four: consuming less stuff and investing more in yourself.

Number five: consider reserving some time for creative idleness. Some time for yourself to play, experience some activities related to things that you enjoy, or whatever sparkles your curiosity. Number six: being mindful about how you spend your time. Time and energy are investments. How are you going to invest your time in the next hour? How much time are you going to allow yourself to scroll down on social media? Be mindful about that because social media was designed to grab your attention and somehow to keep you there. Are you going to allow yourself to be led to stay there for the time they want? Are you going to be more in charge of your time? Think about it. Number seven: setting an estimated time to finish your next task. When you have something that you are doing, it's not about just starting without any time to finish. It's good to set an estimated time to complete even if you are not so accurate on your estimate. I'm actually getting better on that. I need. Anyway, be mindful that you need to have power over your time instead of letting time have power over you. Number eight: putting on the calendar at least one task a day related to your project and sticking to that even if it's uncomfortable. We are supposed to do and face the uncomfortable and do what needs to be done. Number nine: taking some time to rest and recharge. And I will quote Michael Hyatt here. "We are human beings, not human doings." And number ten: welcome changes and challenges in your life. See them as something that can be exciting instead of something to fear. Welcome stepping out of your comfort zone a little bit. If you start making at least three of these lifestyle changes, you will be placing yourself on the path of becoming your own leader and experiencing freedom in your life.

And if you want a little extra help with that, I have some free resources where I share valuable marketing information that is usually not available out there so you can start attracting your own clients and revenue right away. One of them is the Free Step-by-step Guide: Attracting Your Own Clients. I will put the link on the show notes of this episode for you. And the other one is a free masterclass where you can discover not only what to do to attract your own clients, but also how to generate revenue online utilizing what you already know. I will also put the link for the free masterclass here in the show notes of this episode, okay? That's all for today.
