Hello and welcome to The Neat Lifestyle Podcast, present in 51 countries worldwide. Oh my goodness, thank you so much for listening. I am your host, Ktia Mesquita, and this is episode number 27. In today's episode, we'll talk about ways to stop struggling and start performing. Okay, if or if someone you know have been struggling, kind of putting a lot of efforts in your projects, pushing harder, faster, sacrificing yourself, and not having as many results as you would like, regardless of whether you're trying to get personal or professional results, this episode is for you because chances are there's still a missing element, and we are going to talk about this missing element today.

The thing is, you are not supposed to struggle to achieve your goals. The process of working on some project or going after your goals is not supposed to be a struggle. How you achieve is as important as what you achieve. So, the process is supposed to be taken into consideration. It's supposed to be an exciting, manageable, creative, and harmonious experience. You may have the drive, special talents, and skills to achieve your goals, but if you are still struggling, you may need to find this missing element, which is alignment. So, let's dive in and stop the struggle and start to perform once and for all. 

So, the problem is that some people are focusing on achievement at every cost. Disregarding their health, their relationships, their well-being, and other important areas of life. They are just focusing on the expected results and being motivated by this unnecessary fear of falling behind. Actually, it plays against them, and the problem with this kind of thinking is that they usually have these possible outcomes. One is that they can have some success without fulfillment. For instance, financial success and their personal lives are going downhill. Another one is pushing themselves to the limit, striving for more, and experiencing burnout at the point they don't achieve anything at all. The problem is that the process is out of alignment. Out of alignment with their core values and out of alignment with harmony between other important areas of life. Okay, I get it. I know what it's like because I have been there, but things started to shift for me when I started to consider establishing my core values, sticking with them as much as I can, adjusting the process to be in alignment with them, and considering harmony between work and the whole picture of my personal life, because we are supposed to create a process in which we can truly enjoy and enjoy now, not wait until we finish the process and accomplish whatever we want to achieve to finally enjoy something. 

Our lives are happening now. There are many things happening about our lives right now. Kids don't stop growing to wait for your success. Your health doesn't wait for your success. Your romantic partner may need attention today. "Your creativity and problem-solving ability need some relaxing time, some joyful time to flourish. You need some time for yourself to recharge today while you still have energy, not when your energy gets completely drained. Remember, making progress in a slower pace is still progress. When we reorganize our process to be in alignment with our core values and in harmony with the most important areas of life, we can enjoy our day-to-day life and find some sense of fulfillment now, during the process, instead of someday in the future. Every minute you don't consider the process and keep doing things the same way, you lose precious time of your life. And here's what you can do to be more mindful about your process: Everything starts with you noticing and identifying where you are at. If you are achieving your goals but feel burned out, or if you are achieving something but not as much as you would like, or if you feel so confused and stuck that you are not achieving anything at all. And after you make this assessment to identify where you are at, pay attention on the process. 

Are you sacrificing too many hours of your day? Do you think that if you work 24/7, you are being productive? Actually, there is an amount of hours, around four to five hours, in which we are productive. After that, we start to get tired, and our productivity wanes, so it's not worth the time. We struggle too much to keep insisting. It's better stop and recharge, and when we come back, we are recharged and can do in 15 minutes something that would take three hours, insisting, tired, exhausted. Revise the way you are doing your process. Are you eating properly? Are you resting properly? Are you paying attention to your loved ones in the process? Are you losing time and energy with activities that don't help you with anything? They're like mere distractions or scrolling down on social media without any limits whatsoever. Pay attention to your process. 

Then, after identifying where you are at, it's time to make a decision. A decision to commit. Commit to a new strategy to go after what you really want for your life, considering taking a new approach to the process of achieving your goals and not only focusing on the results. Then, once you are committed, start to establish your core values, your non-negotiables, for example, some time for yourself. This is non-negotiable for me. Every day I need some time for myself, even if it's one hour. Some days, I have more time for myself. Some days, I have less time for myself, but I still have time for myself. What else is a core value for me? Exercising regularly. I monitor my health. Also, one of my core values is to spend time, make sure I spend time with my loved ones, including my cat. 

It is also a core value for me having during the week some time for exciting activities. Activities that I love. It's a core value for me to be in charge of my time and my energy and not let exterior circumstances, people, or any distraction to drain my time and my energy. It's also a core value to me to live with purpose. What else? A good night's sleep to make sure I get between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. That's how I feel good and how I can perform better and be more productive and happier during the day. Sometimes, we feel unhappy, or we have a bad performance because we didn't sleep well. So, sleeping is a core value for me, so it's something I protect. I protect my sleep time. I protect my time, my energy, my time with loved ones, my health, I protect my time for exercising, my time for myself, and so on.

And after deciding your core values, have a clear definition of what you want and redesign your process in a way that you consider the holistic approach. For that, managing time and energy and improving management of your emotions can play a big role. In episode number 26, I share some self-coaching techniques and books that can help you with this part. So, make sure to listen to episode number 26. And the whole point of being in alignment is that you can find inner peace, even during challenging times. You can manage, and searching for inner peace is way better than searching for external validation and external rewards. By redesigning your process, you choose sustainability over short-term win. You can develop resilience, you can approach challenges as experiences, and enjoy the process now instead of waiting to the end to start feeling happiness. 

Next, take your new plan and split it into smaller goals, like monthly goals, weekly goals, daily goals, and, of course, some time off, and add them to your calendar to start taking action. Things become reality when you put them in your calendar and take action. True success isn't just about making money or having more stuff only. It's not about achieving at any cost. That's why we see so many millionaires still feeling miserable. Success is about fulfillment. It's about developing yourself, your mindset, the management of your energy, time, emotions, finding happiness in making other people happy, enjoying the process, allowing creativity flow, and finding purpose in life.
